Is Andy Jenkins YOUR dream man?

I had a dream last night that Andy Jenkins, yes, Cousin Andy the Video Boss himself was sitting down giving me free video advice for my blog.

Thanks, fake Andy.

But the real Andy Jenkins DOES give free advice, and I think my dream was a derivation of his pre-launch videos for his Video Boss program and his blog.

I’ve been planning on making videos instead of text only for a while now.  In particular, after Brendon Burchard emphasized it, then soon after I watched Andy’s videos.  And from those plans I got caught up in planning for quite a while.

If I were giving my clients advice I’d tell them to Focus, then Evolve.  Part of that Evolution phase is educating yourself on the better ways of accomplishing your goal.  If you spend too much time on that phase, you could get, what Tony Robbins calls, “analysis paralysis”, right?

So I set out to get some gear.  I could have just used my laptops camera, but I wanted better quality.

Then of course I needed to learn to use iMovie better.  SO I did.

Then I also wanted to learn other techniques, etc.  So I did.

Meanwhile I was getting more and more refined on what I wanted to teach and blog about for the next year.  I have some great stuff coming out and an excellent curriculum for those who want to learn.

And what is it?  I wrote some about it here.  It’ll be laser focused persuasion and hypnotic language training for people who don’t want to reinvent the wheel and take all sorts of expensive certification classes.  (Most of those classes focus on therapy anyway.)

So, I have my ideas on paper, my camera ready, and I’m just about ready to shoot some videos.  I’ll do a few practice videos that, despite my prep work will probably look amateurish.  That’s okay.  That next part of Evolve is to Take Action, right?

Of course I’ll post some videos here on the blog.  But I’ll also be posting here and here.

By the way, I’m not a paid affiliate for Andy or Brendon (maybe someday, a guy can dream.)  You can find Andy here and Brendon here.

Focus. Evolve. Succeed.

There are a great many ways that I work with clients.  Whether I’m working in small groups or one-on-one, I always get to know my clients so well that I can personalize my coaching and hypnosis sessions.

Even when I do that, there is a solution framework theme that I like to teach to clients when they’re practicing success techniques, self-hypnosis, and group coaching.

Below is a framework that I think you will find useful.

Focus

You need to clearly define your goals prior to jumping into a big task. Figure out right now what success will actually look like to you.

If you don’t get clear about what success truly is, you run the risk of not knowing when you’ve succeeded or when you need to change your strategy in order to succeed.

Find your focus.  Let’s get real here. When you’re hoping to be the next big Internet guru, affiliate marketer, Tony Robbins, or Steve Jobs, it would be wonderful to wake up tomorrow suddenly successful, right? - Like taking the right colored pill in that Matrix movie, it would be great to just wake up seeing life the way it is and then hook yourself up to some device where one minute later you open your eyes exclaiming, “I know kung fu!”

But in your sober moments you know that it IS possible to be the next Steve Jobs, but you’ll need to set out on the road of finding all the smaller successes on your way to world domination.

Focus is truly a gift you can give to yourself. So what do I mean and what are the benefits?

Be as specific as you can. What do you really want? If you say to me, “lots of money.” I’d say, “Me too.” But that just isn’t clearly defined. Getting clear would be more like this,

I want to double my income in the next 18 months by working hard on this Internet side-project until it starts making money for me with the following 3, 6, and 12 month milestones. They are…

Get it? The more clear the goal is, the more doable it will seem. The more doable it seems, the more likely you are to engineer all the right steps you’ll need to take to accomplish your task. And the more you do that, the more you’ll succeed at step 2, which is…

Evolve

Being flexible in your approach and doing your research, followed by decisive action is a big deal. Evolve is multi-faceted.

First, evolve means taking yourself from the lack of knowledge of how to accomplish something to having tons of knowledge. Learning and getting creative. Being logical and artistic. After getting focused, taking a scientific approach to what your next steps will be is very important. This is where you make your plans in meaningful ways.

Second, take action. You need to test your knowledge in ways that further your goals. Do stuff and make stuff happen. It doesn’t matter how large or small your action is, the point is to do stuff and create momentum. Trial and error also feed the previous step of learning, which leads to…

Third, adapt and improvise. As internal and external challenges arise, you will learn and take action. You will become adept at improvisation and you will get better and better at making quick decisions. You will look and feel like a leader. Mistakes truly become learning experiences and your actions yield more successful results.

Succeed

Having gotten your goals clear and taken a dynamic approach to getting what you want, you might find that rewarding yourself for even the tiniest successes is a good thing. Further, you’ll find that you have new goals to accomplish, so just being on the path to successes is the very goal itself.

Reward reward reward. It’s easy to feel defeated before you even realize that you’ve achieved successes. You might have a dozen small things to feel grateful for, but if you haven’t yet made that fortune, or opened that business, or whatever your goal may be, you could feel deflated. So, reward yourself for even the tiniest successes.

Tip for Focus when you’re in a tight spot.

Mindset

Imagine a time when you’ve felt absolutely confident.

Occasionally someone will tell me at this point, “I’ve never felt confident in my life.” Usually when I then ask, “Are you sure about that? You’ve never felt confident in your life?” they respond, “I’m positive.” So if you’re one of those people, I’d like you to feel confident that you’ve never felt confident. Now back to business…

I’d like you to imagine a time when you’ve felt absolutely confident. Take a few moments to really pick a memory (or the present moment) when you’ve felt confident. Got it? You might also feel “in charge” or “grounded.”

What is your physical posture like in this memory? Your breathing? Go ahead now and adopt that posture, breathing, and allow yourself to embody that idea… that you are confident, grounded and sure.

As you remember that confident time, and feel the breathing, moving into the posture, notice what happens to your mindset. Some other people might try to resist feeling confident to make a point to those around them, but not you – no need to resist, you’re doing this on purpose, allowing yourself to become more and more in command of the present moment.

What is that like to be confident? We all have experiences of confidence. Some people have been managers in charge of employees, or parents who know what’s best for their kids Or children who know more than their parents.

Confidence abounds, does it not? You could be driving a car on a route you always travel and you are confident about getting there. You have made decisions and are sticking to them.

How many examples of confidence, grounded and in charge can you think of? It’s worthwhile to take some time to daydream right here and now.

Great. You’ve found those memories of confidence. Observe again your posture in that memory. Adopt that now.

How was your breathing different? Even tiny differences. Breathe that way now.

What words did you say to yourself? Use that in-command language to yourself now.

And as you continue to breathe, remember that it’s not important to immediately feel 100% confident, but allow it it develop over a short time. And as you allow it to become a part of you again. Enjoy noticing the larger changes that accompany even the tiniest changes.

Rebel Mojo

rebel hybrids

I’ve been hard at work on my new project that I’ve lovingly dubbed “Rebel Mojo”.  I’m not done yet, but I can hardly wait to share with you this fantastic new program.  I’ve been coaching individuals and groups for many years, and I’ve trained people in the arts of hypnosis, persuasion and coaching. Now I’ve decided to integrate them more fully into a program where you can learn what you want to learn, and apply it to any area of your choice.

  • You want to learn persuasion and hypnotic language skills without having to read through volumes of texts, and hundreds of research papers.
  • You don’t want to have to reinvent the wheel or spend so much time reading that you don’t have time to actually practice the skills that are relevant to you.
  • You don’t want to have to spend thousands of dollars on certification programs that don’t actually get you anywhere legally or professionally.
  • You do want the information in multimedia, easy to access formats so that you can read, watch or listen at your own convenience, just the skills that you want to work on that day, week, month, etc…

Your learning should be thorough, but not overdone.
It should be comprehensive, while leaving out obscure techniques used only by licensed professionals in therapeutic settings.

And there is a TON out there you could try to learn.  Believe me, I started reading that stuff (and kept going) and I know that most of it isn’t for the general public.  I’m a geek, so I like to read medical publications and studies, but most of it isn’t directly relevant to me neither.

So I took the time to sift out the stuff that is useful for everyday persuasion, coaching and learning.  I’ve been doing that for a long time and now almost I’m ready to share it.  I have all the skills, and I’m an excellent trainer and coach, I just want to get your classroom in order.

You’ll soon have access to Rebel Mojo, a super simple to use online learning portal.  As-in, a website with stuff on it to learn.

Why call it Rebel Mojo?  Well, for one I like the word Mojo.  You can Google “Mojo” if you want, but I’ll tell you what it means for us: self-confidence, mettle, positive attitude, a magic spell.  And you’re a Rebel because like me, you’re going to buck the system and not pay too much to learn some serious Mojo Skills.

You will have your pick of learning from me and my site:

  • Rapport Skills
  • Conversational Persuasions Methods
  • Coaching Others
  • Coaching Yourself
  • Covert Hypnosis
  • Formal Hypnosis Techniques
  • Dating Techniques (The good, self-confidence builders, not the creepy manipulative ones)
  • And more as time passes…  I just can’t stop myself.
I’ve discovered that there’s a great deal of confusion out there in one of my fields of expertise.  I think this is because of some very good reasons.  The world of personal empowerment is rife with so many people who are less than authentic, who are training people to use very hypnotic linguistic patterns to manipulate others in what I consider unethical ways; pick up artists learning to influence women in creepy ways, sales trainers learning similar skills, and coaches out there practicing far beyond their areas of expertise, sometimes venturing into areas of psychotherapy that have been reserved for licensed practitioners. All that can change for you with Rebel Mojo and learning directly from me.  It’s all good.  It’s all authentic.  I’m down to earth and accessible, so you’ll be able to ask questions and get answers.  I’m not some Internet/international/big time guru.  I’m an ordinary guy who, by accident, stumbled across life changing, meaningful personal empowerment techniques.  (By Tony Robbins, if you must know.  You can read some of my personal story here.)Okay, I know you’re interested, and I’m so very much looking forward to teaching you how to do what I do.

The New Year

I hope that this new year brings you more freedom to spread information without government or other suppression.
I hope that if you live somewhere where your government is trying to kill you that you find freedom to live.
If you have prosperity, I hope that you have more, and if not, I hope that the means to prosperity are freely available to you and not being withheld by scared others trying to cling to theirs.
Hang on to hope, learn to be even more resourceful and have a Happy New Year!

What’s that protein powder doing for you?

In 2012 are you going to be that person with the big thing of protein powder that you opened and now it’s sitting in the refrigerator?

It’s bad enough that it’s 98% full, but it’s on the door of the fridge. And it’s on that bottom shelf of the door of the fridge with all the old tipped over salad dressings.

Are you going to be that person? What about that +Anthony Robbins book on the shelf, or that +Brendon Burchard course sitting next to the DVD player? I encourage you to make 2012 the best ever… and USE all of your tools.

A Note to “Joe”

I’d like to congratulate a client of mine I’ll call “Joe”. You’ve made some serious changes fairly recently and you said I could share some with the world.

You realized that you weren’t the type of person who would carry around a few extra pounds (even though some people can be very healthy with a few extra pounds).

You accept that sometimes people will keep saying to you, “have you lost weight?” when in reality, no, you haven’t lost more weight in a while, but you just look and act healthier and with more energy than months ago (and for many years prior).

Sometimes people will talk behind your back and ask if “he’s losing too much weight?” when again, you haven’t lost more weight, you’ve learned how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and you know how to keep your weight, shape, and demeanor at better levels all around.

You know, when you’ve acted and looked one way for many years, people get used to that. Let them get used to this too. They will.

Congratulations, Joe.  You’ve transformed yourself into a person who uses new and more empowering ways of acting and feeling. I’m glad I could be a part of that as a coach.

Only a few of you reading this will know Joe. But how many more out there are willing to step up and make the many small changes and the few large changes that are required to see lasting positive change? I actually think that number is very high.

Make a plan. Take some actions. Change as you need. Keep going.

We can get used to anything, can’t we?

Hourglass

If you found out that you would be drafted into military service and that you would head off for basic training in 9 months, what sorts of things would run through your mind?

“Am I in good enough shape physically to do this?”
“Do I have all of my affairs in order, finances, family business, etc?”
“What else do I NEED to do in these upcoming months?”

These days that exact scenario isn’t as common (people aren’t drafted right now in the USA), but the idea of something in the near future that calls for action now is very common:

Volunteer military service and you want to get in shape, possible lay-offs at work that require revamping your resume, expecting a baby in nine months and you feel like you need to change jobs to earn more money, just to name a few.  You might feel like you have to take action, but you don’t do you?  You could just get used to how things are and refuse to take action.  Or maybe you actually do have to take action, but still refrain from actually doing anything, or enough.

The boiling a frog analogy is called for here. We can get used to just about anything, can’t we? How many times have you had something ahead of you that needed to get done, would benefit from taking some kind of action NOW, but you put off until the last minute, or worse, sabotaged yourself by never taking action at all? Term papers in college? Losing weight before the wedding?

Divergent Thinking

Someone recently called me a “nonconformist coach.”  I like that.  I’m known by my clients as someone who can help them reframe the way they think about challenges and to find new and often times fun solutions.  Well, my eyes were stuck to this video about our modern education system.  I wonder if we could all benefit from what Sir Ken Robinson describes as ‘divergent thinking’ and how he applies the ideas to our current ways of thoughts.

Are You Happy on the Path?

I help people all the time achieve specific life goals.  I think it’s important to remeber to be on a path with heart, no matter what the specifics are.

I saw this short video and thought I’d share.

Having the eyes of a child.

Sometimes we make life so complicated. One of my martial arts teachers in Japan is always telling us to be child-like and to have wonder and excitement about the world.

I agree.

So here’s to that!!
