You likely don't own your car. You probably have to pay an excise tax. If you don't pay that, they can take your car away or you can go to jail, correct?
You don't own your home. Even without a mortgage, you still have property tax. If you don't pay that, you can go to jail, correc t?
You don't own you children. They'll grow up and move away.
You only own your clothes and gadgets for a little while. They'll wear out, break, and then you have to get new stuff. Stuff and more stuff. Then some more stuff that you pay a lot of money for, but the authorities can take away if you don't pay the protection feerental fee tax.
So then, what can you do? Well, here's an idea. Make the best use out of the resources that you feel like you have more
permanent ownership; emotions, states-of-mind and actions.
A few suggestions for today.
1. Take a few moments today to discover things for which you feel grateful.
2. Think about and rehearse what you might say to someone with whom you're expecting to have a difficult conversation. Rather than rehearsing how harsh you're going to be with that person, think about what kind of words a great communicator might use to transform that tough talk into something productive. (Yes, I also want you to think of the cheesiest self-help guru language you might hear, and rehearse that in your mind. Let yourself giggle at how weird that sounds. Then tone it down and alter it to your liking)
3. If you find yourself in a sticky situation (e.g. with a loved one, boss, sports fan) ask yourself, "What
would I say or do if I were a totally enlighten, compassionate person right now?"
If this doesn't sound cheesy to you, then great, try it out. If it does sound a little cheesy? Yes it is, just in case
you were wondering. Enjoy the cheese. Use the cheese. Try it out. I think you'll like the results.
